pretty cool! i couldnt manage to find a balance but i had fun trying :D there seemed to be a few minor pathfinding issues, like herbivores not realising there was food nearby, but it wasnt too detrimental!
idk if youre still working on this, but if you are, then could i suggest different tiers for the carnivores as a way to help balance the ecosystem? so e.g. tier 1 carnivores eat herbivores, while t2 eats t1 carnivores. just as a way to take some of the focus off eating the herbies before they can regen lol, and to cull the main carnies. just a suggestion though!
also i enjoyed being able to add in new creatures, it definitely made it a lot more interesting! and the minimalist art style looks quite nice imo too! :D

my guess is if you loose one of the 3 types you loose it forever?
